Obituary of Betty Lou Hongisto
Betty Lou Hongisto, 77, a resident of the Hongisto Rd. in Chassell passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock following a short illness.
She was born on December 4, 1941, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Frank and Maude (Logsden) Klus. Betty was raised in Farmington, MI, where she graduated from the Farmington High School with the class of 1959.
Betty had worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company for a short time before being united in marriage to Albert Hongisto on April 29, 1961. The couple had resided in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Arizona before settling in the Detroit area for 30 years to raise their family. For the past 22 years the couple had made their home on the Hongisto family farm in Chassell during retirement.
Mrs. Hongisto was a active member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Pelkie. She was an avid reader and enjoyed coloring, working puzzles and being with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother.

Funeral services for Betty will be held 11 am Sunday July 28, 2019, at the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Pelkie with Pastor Jim Frantti to officiate. Burial will be held at a later time in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
Friends may call on Saturday July 27, 2019, from 4 to 7 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Sunday from 10 am until time of services at the Laestadian Lutheran Church of Pelkie.
