Dr. Robert W. Bickmore, 93, a former resident of Quincy Hill passed away Monday afternoon February 27, 2017, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital following a short illness.

He was born on November 8, 1923, in San Francisco, CA, a son of the late George and Dora (Boradt) Bickmore. He graduated from Balboa High School in 1941.

Dr. Bickmore was a veteran having served with the United States Air Force where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star. In 1948, Robert received his B.S in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkley. He continued to study at the university where he received his Master’s Degree and eventually going on to receive his Ph.D. After receiving his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Dr. Bickmore became a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkley.

In 1968, he was united in marriage to the former Geraldine Parsons in Las Vegas. The couple had moved to the Upper Peninsula where Dr. Bickmore join the faculty at Michigan Technological University as a Lecturer in the Electrical Engineering program and later became the Graduate Program Director.

In Dr. Bickmore’s free time, he enjoyed keeping up to date with Wall Street and the stock market. He also had a great liking for cats and had as many as five of them at a time.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents.

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Per request of the family, there will be no service and burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry, PA.
